About Armex:

ARMEX Blast media is classified as a soft abrasive, and was originally used during the restoration of the Statue of Liberty.  ARMEX Blast Media is Sodium Bicarbonate (aka Baking Soda).  The ARMEX formulas are unique, and much different than what is typically found in your refrigerator. They all contain a moisture barrier system, which enables it to flow evenly and consistently throughout a project.  The crystal shape itself is “sharp” – not sharp enough to cut your hand, but sharp enough to strip some very tough coatings and paints off various substrates.

What’s unique about Soda Blasting versus other forms of media blasting is that Baking Soda will leave the substrate intact, and in most cases, not create a profile. Two great uses for ARMEX Baking Soda are automotive depainting (it will not even damage the fiberglass on a Corvette) and Boat bottom stripping – it removes the marine paint, but doesn’t harm the gel coat.

The ARMEX website is a great resource for learning more about all of the different ways people are using it today.  Here are just a few:

Graffiti Removal
Mold Remediation
Castings and molds
Aviation / Aerospace parts
Remanufactured parts
Carbon removal
Soft metal cleaning
Fire Restoration
Car Restoration
Marine Paint removal
